Veneered Boards Cut to Size

VENEERED BOARDS

Advantages and methods

Wood veneer is produced either by peeling the trunk of a tree or by slicing large blocks of timber. The grain and figure of each veneer depend on the species and on the angle at which the wood is cut through its growth rings, so every slicing method creates its own distinctive pattern.

A key benefit of veneered boards is stability. Built from thin layers of wood bonded to an MDF or plywood core, they are far less prone to warping and splitting than solid timber – essential where temperature and humidity vary. Veneers also make beautiful species such as oak and walnut more accessible and affordable than solid hardwood. At Cut and Edge Express, we cut and edge veneered boards to size, with matching real wood edging, in our Peterborough workshop.

Product Quality

Standard and superior grades

Our standard veneered MDF boards are commercial grade A/B, suitable for furniture, interior fit-outs, shopfitting and wall panelling. The A-grade veneer is applied to the face and the B-grade to the reverse. White European oak and American black walnut are the UK’s most popular species, and because high demand can affect veneer quality, we often source these in a higher A+ grade.

For high-end projects, we offer veneered MDF in a Superior grade. These veneers are carefully selected and matched by appearance, natural features, colour, leaf width and overall panel quality, then veneered and labelled in batches for maximum consistency – crucial for larger projects.

Superior grade

When veneer quality is critical, or you need a consistent appearance across multiple sheets, our Superior grade veneered boards are the ideal choice.

Real wood veneered board

Commercial Grade A

Grade A veneer has a good structure with only small variations in colour and appearance, giving an attractive, consistent finish.

Real wood veneered board

Commercial Grade B

Grade B has a more varied, irregular structure and may include colour variation, knots and other natural features, in shorter runs of similar faces.
