Melamine-faced chipboard (MFC) cut to your exact sizes and edged to match, in our Fengate workshop in Peterborough. MFC is the board most kitchens, wardrobes and bedroom furniture are built from: a chipboard core with a hard-wearing decorative face fused to both sides, ready to use with no painting or finishing.

What MFC is best for
- Kitchen carcasses – base, wall and tall units. See our kitchen cabinet sizes guide.
- Wardrobes and bedroom furniture – sides, shelves, dividers and plinths.
- Shelving and storage – alcove shelves, media units, garage and office storage.
- Doors and drawer fronts in woodgrain or plain finishes, edged on all four sides.
Standard MFC has a moisture-resistant face but not a moisture-resistant core, so keep cut edges sealed with edging near sinks and dishwashers. For painted or routed doors, MDF is usually the better choice.
Edging for MFC
Every edge we cut is raw chipboard until it is banded. We apply ABS edging matched to your decor with PUR glue, which gives a stronger, more water-resistant bond than standard hot-melt glue. Most people choose 1mm on carcass front edges and shelves and 2mm on doors and drawer fronts – our edgebanding guide explains the options.
Drilling and machining
We can drill hinge holes, shelf pin holes and cam and dowel holes, cut grooves for back panels and drawer bottoms, and shape parts on our CNC. Send a DXF or DWG drawing, or describe what you need on the quote form.

MFC cut to size: common questions
What thickness of MFC should I use for kitchen units?
18mm is the standard for carcasses, shelves and doors. 8mm is used for backs and drawer bottoms that sit in a groove.
How accurate is your cutting?
Panels are cut on computer-controlled saws, so sizes are consistent from one panel to the next and corners are square.
Can I mix decors in one order?
Yes. Many kitchens use a plain colour for carcasses and a woodgrain for doors and end panels – add each decor to the same cutting list.
Do you cut boards I bring in?
