Find out how many boards your parts will fit on. Add each part’s length, width and quantity, choose your sheet size and the calculator packs them onto sheets and draws a layout of each one.
How the sheet calculator works
It trims 10mm from each sheet edge to square it up, allows for the width of the saw blade between parts, and packs the largest parts first in strips across the sheet. Parts marked “Keep grain” are never turned, so woodgrain doors and panels keep the grain running the right way.
Which sheet size?
- 2800 × 2070mm – most decorative MFC, including Egger.
- 2440 × 1220mm – plain MDF and plywood.
- 3050 × 1220mm and 2750 × 1220mm – long MDF and lacquered gloss and matt boards.
See the UK board sizes guide for thicknesses and sheet weights.
Tips for using fewer sheets
- Only tick “Keep grain” for parts where it matters – plain colours can be turned.
- Group parts in the same decor and thickness together.
- Small parts such as plinths, fillers and rails fit into the gaps left by large panels.
Common questions
Is this the number of sheets I will pay for?
It is an estimate. When you order online, our cutting software lays your parts out precisely, which is often more efficient than this calculator.
Can I work out kitchen unit parts first?
Yes – use the kitchen unit cut list calculator, then copy the sizes here.
