Moisture-resistant MDF (MR MDF) cut to size in our Fengate workshop in Peterborough. MR MDF is made with a moisture-resistant resin – usually recognisable by its green core – so it copes far better with the humidity in kitchens, bathrooms and utility rooms than standard MDF, while still cutting, routing and painting just as cleanly.

Where to use moisture-resistant MDF

Bathroom furniture – vanity units, bath panels, boxing-in and cupboards.
Kitchens and utility rooms – plinths, sink-unit panels, end panels and painted doors near steam and splashes.
Window boards and skirting-height panelling in rooms that get damp.
Painted cabinetry anywhere humidity changes through the day.

Moisture-resistant is not waterproof: seal every face and edge with primer and paint, and do not use MR MDF outdoors or where it will sit in water. For outdoor work, ask us about exterior-grade MDF or marine plywood.

MR MDF we cut

We cut moisture-resistant MDF from Medite and Spanolux, including Medite Moisture Resistant MDF and Spanolux light primed MR MDF, plus veneered moisture-resistant MDF for real wood finishes. MR MDF is priced by quote rather than online – send your list and we will usually reply within one working day. It is normally supplied in 2440 × 1220mm (8ft × 4ft) sheets; see our UK board sizes guide for common thicknesses.

Cutting, edging and machining

We cut MR MDF on computer-controlled saws and can drill, groove and shape it on our CNC – useful for vanity units and routed doors. Painted MR MDF does not need edging; if you would like edges banded, we use PUR glue for a strong, water-resistant bond (see our edgebanding guide).

How to order MR MDF cut to size

Send your sizes – length × width in millimetres, with quantities and thickness – through the quote form, or WhatsApp 07479 219421.
Add any machining – hinge holes, grooves or shapes, ideally with a DXF or DWG drawing.
Collect or have it delivered – from 7 Second Drove, Fengate, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, or in our own vans within around 35 miles, free on orders over £1,000.

Moisture-resistant MDF: common questions

Is MR MDF waterproof?

No. It resists humidity and occasional splashes much better than standard MDF, but it must be sealed on every face and edge and kept out of standing water.

Why is MR MDF green?

Manufacturers add a green dye to the core so you can tell it apart from standard MDF on site.

Can I paint MR MDF?

Yes – prime all faces and edges first, then paint as normal. Primed boards save a step.
