Plywood we cut

Birch plywood – dense, void-free layers with an attractive striped edge. Popular for drawer boxes, shelving, furniture and van racking.
Marine plywood – made with waterproof glue and high-quality veneers for boats, outdoor joinery and wet areas.
Melamine-faced birch plywood – birch ply with a wipe-clean melamine face, ideal for van linings, workshop benches and shop fittings.
Veneered plywood – real wood veneer faces such as oak and walnut, for furniture and panelling.

What plywood is best for

Drawer boxes – birch ply with a clear-lacquered edge is a classic look, and it is stronger than chipboard for the same thickness.
Shelving that carries weight – ply sags less than MFC or MDF over the same span.
Van racking and workshop storage – light, tough and good at holding fixings.
Furniture with exposed edges – the layered edge is a feature in modern designs.

Edging and machining plywood

Many people leave birch ply edges on show and simply sand and lacquer them. If you want them covered, we can apply real wood veneer or ABS edging with PUR glue – see our edgebanding service. We can also drill, groove and shape plywood on our CNC, which is ideal for repeated parts such as drawer sides and shelf supports.

Collect or have it delivered – from 7 Second Drove, Fengate, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, or in our own vans within around 35 miles, free on orders over £1,000.

Is birch plywood better than MDF?

It depends on the job. Birch ply is stronger, lighter and better with screws; MDF is smoother and better for painting and routing. Our MFC vs MDF vs plywood guide compares them.

Can I use plywood outside?

Use marine or exterior-grade plywood for outdoor and wet areas, and still seal or paint it. Standard interior plywood is not made for outdoor use.

How do you charge for plywood?

We price by the board used plus cutting and any edging or machining, and send you a full quote before anything is cut.
